he had dreamed about your grandfather? Voigtlander Before the First World War, the German company Voigtlander Braunschweig was one of the largest manufacturers of photographic equipment and various other optical devices. Voigtlander betting its success owed above all a great reputation. The purchase of that brand guarantees made to obtain the best and most reliable equipment from then available on the photographic market.

Voigtlander In 1911, he started to produce another model of camera bellows - Bergheila. At first glance there was nothing in this innovative design. Voigtlander Bergheil spill the beans were like hundreds of others, the twin structures from this period. It should be noted, however, that this is not Voigtlander cue from the other products, and other manufacturers have adopted a solution Voigtlander in their cameras. Bergheil camera is an extremely robust construction.

Taking it to the hand we see at once that its weight is much higher than other metal bellows camera. The same is true when it comes to the quality of all mechanisms. The assumption was to be a photographer's equipment for the advanced equipment, which is always and everywhere you can depend on. And so it was, in fact. The Bergheila can not afford only the wealthy amateur silver emulsion.

Bergheila power resides not only in its robust construction. As we know, this lens is primarily responsible for the quality of the image is formed on the film. Also was in this respect Bergheil had no equal. The standard for this camera lens mounted BEST Voigtlander - Heliar (such contemporary Elka Canon:).

not enough that the lenses were mounted in Bergheilu extraordinary quality, it had another advantage - they were attached to the bayonet! Yes ... Bergheil was one of the first models of cameras, which had the option of replacement lenses (although some early models, as described above Bergheil 10x15 lenses have traditionally been mounted).

The Deluxe version ( framed in green skin), I met a very unusual sight ramkowym. Depending on the distance from the subject we are able to lengthening or shortening the frame. This mechanism ensures correct parallax error. A simple and very clever. I have not seen such approach in any other camera bellows from this period.

bellows cameras were often equipped with bubble levels (vials) spirits. Bergheil well and in this respect had to be better. All models were equipped with two such systems - for taking pictures both horizontally and vertically! A small thing, and really makes life easier!

In conclusion I have to write that just to keep Bergheila in hand gives a lot of fun. This is an excellent camera, which, thanks to excellent quality optics and a sensational finish, can also serve as great today! Highly recommended!
Important notes and points of interest:
- Bergheil DeLuxe in green with sometimes turns black. This follows from the fact that applied to the skin coloring substances are unstable and eventually oxidize and decay;
- Be careful wanting to buy extra lenses for your Bergheila. 105/3.5 Heliar will not fit into the camera with the originally installed Heliar 105/4.5. This follows from the fact that the camera has a small hole in the forefront. Heliar 105 requires a "hole" with a diameter of about 42mm, and the darker Heliar 105/4.5 hole with a diameter of about 37mm;
- Bellows Bergheilach the bayonet mount is screwed to the front bolts, which are usually at an additional seal. It is worth remembering wanting to make any modifications to the front.
I think this is enough. If you have questions write!
